We delve into his illustrious career from medical student, GP to his role in public health and primary care as co-director of the World Health Organization (WHO) and Head of department at Imperial College London. Prof. Azeem shares his advice on how to pursue a career in research and how we can all develop research skills through mentorship and guidance. We discuss the similarities and differences in public sector roles from his experience working at the ONS and clinical medicine. We end by discussing the recent popularity in social media as a medium for public health communication, the advantages as well as the pitfalls.
Prof. Azeem Majeed is a Professor of Primary Care and Public Health, and Head of the Department of Primary Care & Public Health at Imperial College London. He is accredited in both General Practice and Public Health Medicine alongside NIHR Senior Investigator. He played an international role in public health and primary care as co-director of the World Health Organization (WHO). Prior to moving to Imperial College London, he worked for seven years at the UK Office for National Statistics (ONS).

We explore the roles he played during the early days of Touch Surgery (recently acquired by Metronic) from researcher to lead product manager, why he pursued a role in a startup instead of foundation training despite being advised against it. Ali shares his own personal journey and the difficulties he faced trying to forge his own career outside clinical medicine. We gain an insight into his new role as CPO at MediShout.
We delve into the world of clinical entrepreneurship and why the best solutions arise from those closest to the problem.

We hear the story behind Locum’s Nest and the challenges they faced in order to become the leading mobile app connecting doctors to locum work in hospitals. Nick shares a brief insight into his passion and journey to medicine. He shares the life of locum doctors before his app came to market. We spend some time discussing the importance of technology and why superior design is key for the future of healthcare. Nick also shares why he loves his role at the company and the variety of work he does on a week to week basis.

Dr Nicholas Andreou gained his medical qualifications at Imperial College School of Medicine and Business School where in addition to his medical studies also studied Healthcare Management. In between his shifts at the Emergency Department he taught himself product design and developed the blueprints for the Locum's Nest app. Apart from his day-to-day activities as Locum's Nest's Co-Founder he sub-specialises in managing Locum's Nest's entire suite of products, from strategic direction to product development, activities which have earned Locum's Nest awards such as Major Innovation of the Year and Productivity app of the year.

We discover the story behind her popular instagram page which changed from a vegan food blog to showcasing the reality of a junior doctor as she shares the high, the lows and everything in between as part of her journey as a peads trainee.
Dr Radhika Thakrar is in her first year of paediatric training in South London. She graduated from Imperial College London in 2018 not really knowing what to specialise in, but fell in love with paediatrics during her F2 year. She shares her journey on Instagram and YouTube (@DoctorRadhika) to show medical students what it’s really like to be a doctor, with the real highs and low, because she had no idea what to expect. She also loves trying to keep house plants alive, cooking vegan dishes and going on long walks around London.
