He has held roles in leadership, management and innovation at NHS England, Health Education England and the British Medical Journal and previously directed two healthtech accelerators; DigitalHealth.London, which provided startups with market access to the NHS, saving £48M for the UK health service and HS., which built, scaled and invested in deep technology companies.

In this week’s episode we are joined by Tash Binnie a 3rd year Medical Student at King’s College London. Tash is a keen advocate for mental health sharing her own journey of the very low moments in her own life where she had to seek professional help. We discuss the stigma behind clinicians with mental health conditions and why it is so important the medical profession takes head now more than ever. We explore the positive and negative impact of social media for doctors especially in response to the article she featured in by Times magazine. Tash tells us why she started her popular Instagram page documenting her medical journey and why she founded REACH.
Tash is 3rd year medical student at King’s College London with a keen interest in mental health. She has a super popular instagram page (@tash_themedic) where she shares information about how to get into Medicine, life as a Medical Student and Mental Health to increase the awareness of the prevalence of mental health illnesses in the medical profession. Tash founded REACH: Medical School Mentoring in July 2020 which aims to pair a current graduate entrant Medical Student up with an aspiring graduate entrant Medical Student. So far REACH: Medical School Mentoring has matched over 150 pairs of mentor-mentees.

In this week’s episode Dr Farzana Hussain, a GP principal working in Newham joins us to share her story. You may have seen her face around the nation as she was selected to be one of faces for the NHS 72nd birthday! We explore her journey from the very beginning all the way to being awarded GP of the year. We delve into what it took to become a pioneering GP while balancing motherhood. She touches upon her personal struggles including the loss of her mother during medical school. Dr Farzana champions workplace flexibility; female GPs to pursue entrepreneurship and the opportunities that come with partnership.
This was truly an insightful episode and we learnt we should never to be afraid and always try.
Dr Farzana Hussain is the GP principal at The Project Surgery. She is the clinical director for a primary care network and the Co-Chair of National PCN at NHS confederation. Most recently she was awarded GP of the year.

He has taken his reconstructive skills to other parts of the world where they are desperately needed being shared by BBC World and other major news outlets. He is president of the Plastic Surgery section at the Royal Society of Medicine.

Kamil Mahmood is a Dentist, Poet, Spoken word and Visual Artist born and raised in Birmingham. His work explores identity, community, Islam, the British Pakistani diaspora, masculinity and international activism. He combines contemporary commentary with narratives of the often overlooked and unheard, championing words as tools for change. His debut collection 'Mute Men' was published by Verve Poetry Press. He currently works as a dentist in Birmingham.
